About us
Tennant Creek Funerals is a culturally sensitive and not-for-profit funeral service.
Based in Tennant Creek, it services numerous remote communities around the Northern Territory.
Our story.
Tennant Creek Funerals is owned and operated by Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation and Centrecorp Aboriginal Investment Corporations Pty Ltd.
Both corporations came together to form Tennant Creek Funerals - a local funeral service with the aim to lessen the social and financial impact of funerals on the Aboriginal Community in Tennant Creek and surrounds. The circumstances around death have a significant and disproportionate impact on Aboriginal communities for various reasons, including the lack of choice of funeral service providers in the region, the financial impact on family members trying to bury their loved ones, and inflated funeral costs in general.
Tennant Creek Funerals operates funeral services under a culturally appropriate, not-for-profit model. This will bring about significant positive change and dignity to the lives, and deaths of Aboriginal people in Tennant Creek and the Barkley Region.

Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation
Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation has a long and proud record of community service delivery in Tennant Creek and the broader Barkley Region.
Formed in 1974, it's primary purpose then, as it remains today, was to alleviate poverty and improve the wellbeing of the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and surrounding homeland communities.
The corporations mission is to promote sustainable economic and social development in communities through individual and community achievement.

Centrecorp Aboriginal Investment Corporations Pty Ltd
The Centrecorp Foundation is primarily focussed on the needs of young Aboriginal people in disadvantaged circumstances.
Centrecorp maintains a focus on education, providing assistance to youths from disadvantaged families who might otherwise be unable to pursue their aspirations and abilities at primary and secondary school.
The corporation encourages and supports a broad range of activities including participation in sporting, cultural, personal development, community service and social activities.
